Showjumper Sale and Success for Forde Bloodstock

Back in September of last year, Forde Bloodstock was approached on behalf of Ken and Geraldine Digby, well-known owners and breeders of County Kilkenny, to market their Irish Sport Horse showjumper “The Best of Quality”.

Homebred by their own stallion, Quality Safari (OBOS Quality) and out of the mare Impress (Master Imp), this handsome 16.1 hands gelding had performance records on both sides of his pedigree.

He had been produced initially by Vivienne Digby and was then ridden by Paddy O’Donnell and Jason Foley, before Darragh Ryan took over the ride in 2020.

He jumped successfully at 1:40 level and looked comfortable doing so.

Because of Covid-19 travel restrictions the marketing had to be done entirely online, focusing on potential American customers.

Apart from competition and conformation videos, a trial was organised and filmed at Emerald Equestrian Centre with the help of Feaha Moore and Vincent Digby and the resulting tape distributed to potential clients.

“Besty”, as he is now known, was quickly snatched up by young professional rider/trainer Carly Anthony of Wellington, Florida, on behalf of her client, Heather Chatham of HC Enterprises, Thousand Oaks, California.

Vetted and transported to Florida, all within seven weeks of the initial approach from the Digbys, this very honest, careful and brave Irish horse has already brought attention to himself through his exploits at Wellington during this winter season.

We wish Heather and Carly ongoing success with “Besty”and we thank the Digby family for entrusting Forde Bloodstock with the commission to find a suitable buyer.

We believe we have done so.
